Four Life Hacks for the Busy Dog Owner
Somehow the to-do list always gets longer but the days never do. How to fit it all in without neglecting our furry family? Try these life hacks for the busy dog owner:
Prepare Enrichment Ahead
Decision fatigue sets in during the busy week, and it’s too difficult to make a plan when you’re already exhausted. Whether it’s stuffing food puzzles for weeknight dinners or mapping novel routes for your morning walk, planning for the week on your Sunday saves tons of time—the doing time and the planning time—during the frenetic work week.
Scan Vet Records to Cloud Storage
The new dog walker needs the rabies certificate. Instead of rifling through files in search of that paper, pull up your fave cloud storage (like Google Drive or Dropbox) and access your dog’s records. Switching vets? No problem! Simply email the file to the new provider!
Clean and Organize Supplies
The more stuff you have, the more time it takes to find what you need. Sort out supplies (do you really need four leashes for one dog?) and donate the excess to your local shelter. Organize what you keep by function: gear is in one spot, puzzles in another, and so on.
Arrange Auto-Delivery of Consumables
My dogs take daily supplements. Remembering to reorder before they ran out never seemed to happen. Finally, I set up auto-shipping, and every eight weeks the box of supplements arrives, just in time to replace the current jar. You can set this up for just about anything, from pet food to medications to supplements.
Try one of these hacks, and see how much time you save! Try them all, and you might even free up enough time for a round of backyard agility!
